Jaguar XJR from “Ride Along 2"
Tonight’s Dream Garage will consist of TWO vehicles. You’re a no-nonsense, by the book detective who just got a whacky, fast talking, streetwise partner for a big case. Here are the rules:
Pick one vehicle that was used in any “buddy cop” movie. Whether a comedy or drama, that just means a movie where two people are partnered up to work on a mystery.
Pick one vehicle you would choose to go undercover in. Remember that it needs to be fast enough to be effective in the inevitable chase scene through the town and docks. Undercover just means no one would ever think it was a cop car.

I haven’t seen Ride Along 2, but I would stare at the XJR that appeared on the ad for it that was next to my bus stop while waiting for the bus, so I’m going to go with that anyway.

XFR-S and Chevy SS?
This is a very specific prompt

For my partner (from Bad Boys):
and for me (with a stealth turbo build):

I had no idea my favorite Jag of this decade was in this movie. I may have to Redbox the movie just to see it now! Don’t forget to pick one other vehicle to be undercover in (doesn’t need to be from a movie).

I like to make these challenges. Is one of those from a film? You’ll have to let me know the title if so. I’m making a list of cars in buddy cop movies.

The ads for Ride Along 2 were annoying as hell, but that blue Jag kinda made up for it.

C3 Corvette (Used in the first (Maybe the 2nd as well? Don’t remember) Rush Hour movie)
And a Lexus GS-F, just inconspicuous enough to fly under the radar, but fast enough to catch perps. Also, dat N/A V8.

Awesome choices! I like seeing that Lexus getting some love.

Oh. Duh.
Definitely a Pontiac LeMans, since I know it can do the inevitable chase scene.

“Bad Boys 2" for anyone curious about the Porsche. Excellent choices!

First Car:
obviously
Undercover Car:
My thoughts? Car had to be non-american, because Cops, even undercovers, seem to drive American cars (in North America obviously). Specially Chargers, Impalas, Crown Vics (duh), etc.
It had to be fast, Mazdaspeed 6 is fast, and agile too so it would look fun in a chase scene. Just imagine that 4WD kicking off when you press the gas, and then chasing the bad guy’s 300C through an alleyway, smashing through boxes.
And it has to be Titanium Grey. It’s the most pedestrian colour for the MazdaSpeed6, one parked outside on the street of the bad dudes drug warehouse would be so unassuming. Red or other colors would point it out more in the street, and while the Speed6 is still a sleeper, the grey makes it look stock. If modifications where allowed, obviously add hubcaps, and change the back bumpers and exhaust to be more unassuming.
It has enough back seat space to have the comedic bad-guy-who-turns-good who ratted out the bad dude to freak out in.

I think Ride Along 2 was in Ride Along 2

Added it to the post, actually the original Bad Boys.

The internet car movie database is awesome!
Ferrari 575M Maranello from Bad Boys II.
For the “undercover car” I would go with an Audi S6 or S7 in some unassuming color.

That Gran Torino is from “Starsky and Hutch” for those curious. Great thinking on that Mazda 6!

Perfect!

Thank you! This is too many movies for me to try to remember. I thought I’d be better at this “which movie car is this," quiz!

The Prius from The Other Guys would be the buddy car.
And.. Hmm. Does the undercover car need to be in a movie?

Not at all, it can be from any where you want. Just nothing ridiculous like a Tumble or Tank...those are in no way inconspicuous.
![]() 05/22/2016 at 21:51 |
|
Oh, hell yeah! My undercover car would be a 73-77 El Camino!
![]() 05/22/2016 at 21:52 |

Zebra 3 (Gran Torino)
and a CTS V Wagon for undercover duties.

For the first one, I’ll take a beautiful 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass S convertible in a spectacular red and white combination, as seen in Beverly Hills Cop II...
...and for the undercover car, I’ll take something stealthy that the cops in the UK couldn’t catch...
...the Lotus Carlton.
![]() 05/22/2016 at 22:00 |

DeSoto Adventurer from Sam and Max (it’s like an interactive movie)
Toyota Venza with AWD and the Evora supercharger. Would’ve gone with the Flex Ecoboost but it’s too conspicuous IMO.

the batmobile from the dark knight rises, because why not? I mean technically batman partners up to “solve” a mystery
and a tesla model S P85D, because it’s cool, and no one would ever hear it coming because no noise
![]() 05/22/2016 at 22:24 |

I’ll take the Challenger from RIPD, and for an undercover car, a Honda Accord. Only because no one ever pays any attention to someone in an Accord.

Probably a Jag lineup:

That’s an odd choice, but that was the first one that came to mind for me. What a hilarious movie that was.
I'd personally choose the Ferrari 550 (maybe it was a 575) from Bad Boys 2.

1) 1970 Camaro Z28 21 Jump Street
2) 2014 BMW 340i W/ M-Sport Package

I was watching 21 Jump Street at home when I made up this post. Glad some picked it! I need to find someone to see The Nice Guys with me. I think it will be more fun to watch with a buddy.

Big Vauxhalls, because it fits the theme I guess.
Vauxhall Senator B…
And a Lotus Carlton for the undercover part.

I don’t know of any “buddy cop” films in particular so I’ll just go with the aforementioned big, blue Jag.
And to go undercover, I’ll have a Polestar V60, not in blue like the Jag but in black for undercover work...it can’t be used in the UK though, too suspicious...
